Positioned within the feed water heating system, the deaerator plays a crucial role in safeguarding boiler integrity. Dissolved oxygen in feed water poses a significant threat, as it can trigger severe corrosion within a boiler system by adhering to metal piping and equipment surfaces, leading to the formation of oxides, akin to rust. Furthermore, dissolved carbon dioxide compounds with water to generate carbonic acid, exacerbating the risk of corrosion. To counteract these detrimental effects, most deaerators are engineered to reduce oxygen levels to 7 parts per billion by weight or lower, effectively eradicating carbon dioxide in the process.
